Michael and Jill Diemer are local landlords who independently own and operate all of their units. They service approximately 180 residents per year.
They lived on North Union St. for over ten years where they enjoyed restoring their Historic 1877 Italianate Victorian. Here, they were close neighbors with many of their residents. As a result, Jill became deeply involved with town/ gown issues having the dual resident/landlord perspective. This created a unique understanding of the needs of both students, and local-long term residents.
Jill Diemer has been UVM's "Landlord Liaison" for the past 19 years through OSCR . During that time, she has helped to educate thousands of students through UVM's Off Campus Housing Workshops. She, does this along with City officials - Police Dept., Code Enforcement, Fire Dept. and City Councilors. As well as, UVM/OSCR, students, and other landlord/ tenant representatives. The workshop helps students to learn how to safely and successfully navigate their transition to off campus living .
Mike Diemer successfully built Clock Tower Square, on the site where the Diemer's owed and operated the Town and Country Motel. Clock Tower Square is a Residential and Commercial complex located on Rt7 in Burlington, VT. He did this with no prior construction experience. The architecture was influenced by their Italianate Victorian home. It has had a waiting list on and off for over 10 years. It is dedicated to his younger brother, Jeffrey Hill Rodliff, who tragically died in 2005.
Their favorite local charity is COTS - The Committee on Temporary Shelter where they have volunteered for over 20 years. Click on the above link for an article highlighting JIll & family.
